I have a B1750 HST 4wd, 20 HP tractor with a Kubota pto driven tiller. The problem is that long grass and weeds get wound around the tiller when I'm trying to till new areas. I want to disk harrow the area before tilling. Does anyone know what size tiller I can use on this tractor?

I did consider trying to mow the weeds first, but the ground is too uneven and has too many stones for my mowing capability ....

Depending on the weight of the harrow which you want heavy to cut the weeds you will be between 48 and 60". ....

Art, I found that "Sundown" makes a unit that will fit-the smallest size has a width of 4 1/2 feet with two rows of 6 discs, the next larger size is 5 1/2 feet with 8 discs across. I'd like the wider one, but have concerns about whether or not it will be too much to pull. Any thoughts on these two alternatives? ....

I'm not Art, but my input would be that for disking over sod and tall grass, your tractor will pull the larger unit because the disk won't sink in. If you were disking some plowed field, it would be too much for your tractor.
If if were me, I would go with the smaller 4 1/2 footer. That way you could use it for more things. You chances are will need to pile some cement blocks on top or get some large field stones for weight if you want the disk to dig in. ....

Quite a bit of money for the small disc harrow for the Kubota. How about an old IH Cub? How large a disc harrow will it pull? ....

With an old IH Cub, you won't have a 3 point hitch. There were some older disks that you never raised, just dragged them around and you chewed up everything going from field to field (the road also). They were usually about 6 ft. wide. The other trailer type with gage wheels requires hydraulics and generally are also bigger.
The TSC stores sell KK brand and they are about $600.00. I've looked at other brands and they are about the same money if not more. That is why I suggested mowing first.
For doing food plots with an ATV, some stores sell tow behind disks which only have a single row of disks. Northern Tool sells one for $159.00 that has an adjustable width for 30 -38" wide. I doubt if it would do a good job for actual breaking up of soil but in your case would mangle the grass. They also sell more expensive ATV attachments.
I think you could buy a single bottom moldboard plow lots cheaper and flip the soil over. Then come back with the tiller and do a finish job. I bought my single bottom plow used for $150.00 Mine is a Pittsburgh brand.
